Hi and thank you for giving me your trust in buying this learning programme. My promise to you is to give you and your dogs a wonderful experience and make you a proud, responsible and confident dog owner.
My name is Lorenzo, I was born in Milan, Italy and I am the proud founder of Training Dog.
I come from a lovely, average family and when I was born in 1975 they put all their efforts to go for their dream and build a house in the countryside around Lake Como.
Soon after starting to build the house, all the street dogs of the area used the construction site as a shelter, and as soon as we moved in, they became our family dogs.
I was just 3 years old at that time and with so many dogs as playmates, I didn’t really need toys.
Later in life, I realised the value of that heritage, as due to my young age, I went through an extraordinary socialization phase with dogs, learning to communicate with them at the same time I did with humans. I've always had a special connection, understanding and empathising with dogs. I have always treated them as dogs; this is exactly what most dog owners fail to do.
Growing up I saw myself become an adult through the eyes of my dogs and they also taught me how painful losing someone you love can be.
Despite embracing a brilliant career in the TV and film industry in Italy, I never stopped being passionate about learning how dogs think and learn, studying and researching all my life. The deeper I went into learning, the more confirmation I got on the answers I already had in my mind about canine mindset, behaviour, and learning.
2014 was a year of massive changes. My beloved Labrador, Dino, passed away and despite my career going really well, I felt a huge sense of emptiness. I decided to take some time off to travel. In England, I met a wonderful lady who's my current partner, and with her, I found the motivation to take a huge step in my life by leaving everything behind and giving it a fresh start. In July of the same year I moved to live in West London.
At first, I felt like a little alien, just like Sting in the song “English man in New York”. After an initial struggle, I found a good position as a personal filmmaker for a pop star. During one of my trips around Europe with my new boss, I heard a phone conversation with a dog breeder and I understood his family was getting bigger, with the arrival of a beautiful Border Collie puppy that they named Phoenix.
The puppy was so cute and had plenty of unrealised talents, so I asked my boss if I could train Phoenix and the whole family agreed.
In a short time, he became very popular in Kensington, especially in Holland Park and he made the magic or more precisely, the miracle, introducing me to other dog owners that were so amazed by his good manners and incredible skills. The difference between him and other dogs became so evident that in a flash lots of the local dog owners asked me to train their dogs. Before I knew it, I became a popular dog Trainer in West London, constantly in high demand.
Despite my experience within the canine world, and my long-time studies and researches, to make my new profession more official, I decided to study more intensively and also get an IMDT career as a dog trainer diploma. However, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the results of most standard training techniques, so I developed my own training methods, based on bond, energy, emotion and empathy.
Besides working directly with dogs, I focus on training owners to deal with their pets, changing their approach, their perspective and their role in the relationship.
In 2020, because of social distancing rules, I started training people remotely, through one-to-one video calls, even on the other side of the globe.
It's useful to say that clients who followed my instructions consistently and made an effort to stick to the programme had a successful outcome, most of the time after a single consultation.
In this learning programme that I named Dog Licence, besides explaining all the essentials to build a solid relationship with dogs, I will share my personal experiences, to make every step easy and transfer my knowledge and confidence to motivated dog owners.
I dedicate Dog Licence to my beloved dogs Cucciolo, Dino & Phoenix. It is only for this reason I refer to all dogs throughout the programme as males.
